2019: Dokpesi, Nwanyanwu, others float new political party

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, founder of DAAR Communications, Raymond Dokpesi, and a former chairman of the Labour Party, Dan Nwanyanwu, on Monday unveiled a new political party called Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance, APDA. The new party has ‘Stronger together’ as its slogan.

The inauguration of the new party was aired live on African Independent Television, AIT, a broadcast station owned by DAAR Communications.

Dokpesi, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was campaigning to be elected the National Chairman of the party before it was engulfed in an intractable crisis. the unveiling of the new political party took place at the Reiz Continental Hotels in Abuja.

The Niche recalls that there were speculations that the Ahmed Makarfi-led faction of the PDP, which has been embroiled in a leadership tussle with the Ali Modu Sheriff-led faction, was contemplating floating a new political party. But the Makarfi-led national caretaker committee promptly distanced itself from the said party.
