A former Captain of the Green Eagles, Segun Odegbami has warned that the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon are well prepared psychologically for the 2018 World Cup qualifier against the Super Eagles.
Odegbami, who won the 1980 edition of the Africa Cup of Nations with the Green Eagles in Lagos, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
The former Green Eagles captain stressed that the Super Eagles must be fully prepared for the August 27 showdown with the Cameroonians at the Godswill Apkabio International, Uyo.
“Following the experience against Bafana Bafana you know, and seeing how the Cameroonians’ must have benefited psychologically from that defeat. And how they have gone ahead to play at even a higher level and they have done as well as they did, psychologically they may be even more prepared than the Super Eagles for that match. “But I also know that the Eagles are challenged for that defeat, it has never happened in our history that we have successive defeats. “At the hands of anybody particularly at home here in Nigeria, so I know that the Nigerian spirit will rise to the occasion and the Cameroonians will not defeat the Eagles here.
“How that will be done, we still have a month to see what Gernot Rohr the coach will do, and somehow his going to do it that’s my belief.”
