The fashion scene took off on a rather slow note due to the general election earlier in the year.
Here are some of the events that later shook the industry.

Africa Fashion Week Nigeria

For the second time running, different designers showcased collections of print dresses, red carpet gowns, ready-to-wear outfits, and some great designs for men between May 23 and 24.
Venue was Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

After hosting the event yearly in London, organisers of the Africa Fashion Week London first brought the African inspired fashion event to Nigeria in 2014.

It showcased over 50 emerging, upcoming, and young designers to a global audience of industry experts, media houses, and the general public.

Designers also presented their new collections to a global audience at Eko Hotel & Suites between August 23 and 24.

Lending their names and showcasing alongside the designers were veteran designers with over 20 years in the fashion industry, Adebayo Jones, Ade Bakare, Zizi Cardow, and Tina Lobondi, among others.

Africa Fashion Week Nigeria 2015 aims is to act as a fashion scout for new creative and innovative designers in the African fashion industry.

Lagos Fashion & Design Week (LFDW) 2015 held from October 18 to 31.

Organised by Style House Files, the aim of the platform was to scout for, support, and develop emerging creative talent that can stimulate the growth of Nigeria’s fashion industry.

This year, LFDW had Heineken as the new headline partner.

For five years, LFDW has remained dedicated to the growth and promotion of creatives in the industry by nurturing, fine tuning, rewarding their skills, and providing them with a solid platform for achieving their goals.

This vision is primarily centered on providing support to designers via mentorship, education, and capacity building as well as opportunities to present their work before an audience that facilitates commerce.
