As the year ends in a few days, Lady Captain of Ikeja Golf Club, Dr. Veronica Chaka-Awatai, has promised golf enthusiasts and members of the Ladies’ Section of the Club more competitions and activities in the Year 2015.
She commended participants and sponsors of the section’s activities in the year under review, while promising them juicy events in the coming year.
Her words: “The year under review has been a successful one for us in the club, especially in the Ladies’ Section, as almost all the planned activities of the section came to reality. The members also lived up to expectations, just as our sponsors were also excellent.
“But like Oliver Twist, we will be expecting more from them in the coming year. On our part, we are also going to double our efforts, to give them more than they witnessed in the year under review and more than they expect in the coming year.
“We will partner more with the media in the coming year and we will be soliciting the support of all and sundry.”
She mentioned the Ladies’ Club Championship, the Kiddies Kitty, the annual Ikeja Ladies Open the Children’s Day competition for kiddies and the Mixed Kitty played between the men and women of the club earlier in the year among the activities under her captaincy held at the club golf course.
The sponsors she mentioned include City Travels and Tours’ ICMA, Total Health Trust, Greenwich Trust, Adam and Eve, British Airways, Flour Mills of Nigeria and Comet Shipping.
