Former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, is officially defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Obanikoro, a Minister under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, confirmed his defection to Channels Television on Thursday, saying he would be declaring it openly in Lagos at the weekend.
While he is yet to clearly state reasons for his defection, Obanikoro has been seen recently at gatherings of APC chieftains.
The Niche recalls that Obanikoro ran for the Lagos state governorship seat in 2007 but lost to Babatunde Fashola.
He also tried to get the ticket to run in 2015 under the PDP but lost the ticket to Jimi Agbaje.
He was later appointed Nigeria’s Ambassador to Ghana.
