Naspers is shutting down the online recruitment portal, Career24 in Nigeria, according to Business Insider.
Naspers is a broad-based multinational internet and media group headquartered in South Africa, offering services in more than 130 countries. Its principal operations are in internet communication, entertainment, gaming, and e-commerce.
According to a response to an inquiry by Business Insider, Nasper said the decision to close Career24 in Nigeria is because the company has not been able to gain traction since it was set up in the country in 2014.
It however said Career24 South Africa will not be affected as it has shown prospect in the last year.
Career24 was set up in Nigeria as competition to Nigeria owned job portal, Jobberman and has not been able to keep pace with it since it was acquired by Google.
In February 2018, Naspers closed down OLX, a classified online advertising platform. It also closed down OLX in Ghana and Kenya the same year.
Career24 has struggled to keep pace in the Nigerian market due largely to a number of issues including trust.
