Onanuga reacts to release of 287 Kaduna school students

Onanuga hailed Kaduna State Governor, Sani Uba and thanked God for the release of the students

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has reacted to the rescue of the 287 students abducted from Kuriga area of Kaduna State.

Prior to this, Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Uba Sani had announced late on Saturday night that the students who were kidnapped by suspected bandits, have regained their freedom.

He said: “In the name of Allah the Beneficent, the Most Merciful, I wish to announce that our Kuriga school children have been released.”

Reacting to the development, Onanuga commended Governor Sani Uba and thanked God for the release of the students.

Speaking via post on his X page, he tweeted: “We thank God that the kids have been released by their captors. Congrats Gov. Sani.”

TheNiche had earlier reported that bandits terrorizing the state invaded LEA Primary School Kuriga and Junior Secondary School, Kuriga town, in Chikun Local Government Area of the state on March 7 and whisked away 287 students, including their principal, Abubakar Isah to an unknown destination.

The assailants later demanded for N1 billion ransom as the only condition for the release of the children.

As at the time of this report, it is unclear if the children were rescued by security operatives or released after ransom was paid.
