Just a little over three years, Microsoft Windows 10 has emerged the best Operating System ever made by the tech giant, which has returned to the profitable way ahead of Apple and Google.

According to Net Marketshare, Windows 7 came second with 36.9 percent. Coming distant third is Macintosh Operating System OX 10.14.

But the most surprising is Windows XP which is fourth place and Windows 8.1 in the fifth place. Users find XP flexible and therefore hard to discard for the latest Windows 10.

Windows 10 was released three years ago and offered a free upgrade for people with Windows 8.1. The free upgrade seemed to have sparked off what is known as the biggest download in the history of Microsoft Windows.

It is now installed in over 700 million devices comprising a broad range of devices, including tablets, PCs, phones and gaming platforms like Xbox One. Microsoft plans to have Windows 10 running in about one billion devices.

The Windows’ flexibility and ease of use have endeared it to users who found it hard to accept the OS with the suspicion that it would be another one of those which were confined to the trash cans as soon as they were installed.

Microsoft gambled with the release of a convertible operating system that could bridge the device between PC and tablet, and it appears to have paid off, as has the decision to bring the OS to its gaming platform, Xbox platform, according to TechCrunch.

Microsoft plans to end its support for Windows 7 On January 14, 2020.
