Manchester United boss, Erik ten Hag, has replied Portuguese coach, Jose Mourinho, after he claimed that he never got the same level of “support” the Dutchman tactician is currently enjoying at the Premier League club.

According to the former Roma coach, he didn’t get the kind of backing Ten Hag got in the transfer market during his two-and-a-half years tenure at Old Trafford.

However, after his comment made the rounds, Ten Hag fired back, saying Mourinho is the only manager in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era to “get the players they wanted.”

He also said there are seven or eight Premier League teams who are vying for the league title, adding that they all have  very good squads.

Speaking with ESPN Brasil he said: “Apart from Mourinho, the (other) managers didn’t get the players they wanted, and that is what you need.

“I am confident we will achieve our goals, but it is a tough competition. It is not a two-horse race anymore.

“There are seven, eight [teams in the Premier League] who all go for the title, who all have very good squads. So if you want to go to the title, you have to construct that squad.”
