Silvestre doubts Osimhen is an upgrade to Arsenal’s Jesus

Silvestre also noted that the Nigerian striker does not drift wide in games like the Brazilian

Former Man United and Arsenal defender,  Mikael Silvestre has said signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli does not mean the Gunners have signed  an upgrade to Brazilian striker, Gabriel Jesus.

Many fans and pundits have called on Arsenal to bring in a new number nine after Jesus faced a backlash for his poor finishing in front of goal this season.

The North London club have subsequently been linked with Serie A star, Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.

However, speaking on the need for Arsenal to upgrade their striker to compete for the Premier League (PL) title this season, Silvestre was quoted by The Sun to have said Osimhen may not necessarily be what they require.

He went on to also note that the Nigerian striker doesn’t drift as wide as the Brazilian.

He said: “Osimhen, also a top player. Maybe a little bit more pragmatic in front of goal than Gabriel Jesus. I don’t think he’d necessarily be an upgrade.”

“He is a different type of player [than Jesus]. Osimhen doesn’t drift as wide as Jesus.”

“You always want your No.9 to score as many goals as possible but he’s [Jesus] contributing to Arsenal’s attack in different ways.” Silvestre added.
