Radio Talk Show host, posits that in today’s world there are three major competing ideologies: One is Americanism (undergirded by the Christian worldview), the other is Liberalism/Leftism and the third is Islam. He calls Liberalism the most dynamic religion because of how rapidly it is fundamentally transforming not only American culture but all of Western culture. Its effects can actually be felt all over the world now. That’s why we say in Nigeria: Every mistake in London is a style in Nigeria. We should now be saying: Every mistake in America (or the West) becomes a style in Africa (and most other parts of the world).
Liberalism is indeed a religion —- a godless religion. Michael Savage, another Radio Talk Show host’s less charitable take on this is: Liberalism is a mental disorder.
Liberalism is considered a religion because it has most of the features of other religions. It has its own dogma (based on faith, not science), rituals, high priests, eschatology (end-time doctrine). To its adherents whether they profess to be Christian or Moslem, Liberalism is their final arbiter on all matters, not the traditional religion they profess to belong to. Their first loyalty is to liberalism. That is why a Liberal who professes to be a Christian would say he believes in evolution (which is neither validated by science nor by theology) and support abortion rights and same-sex “marriage. He would also passionately support politicians who craft policies and laws that promote anti-Christian and anti-traditional values.
Liberalism is a Western invention undergirded by anti-Christian, anti-Israel, anti-majority, anti-capitalism, anti-authority and anti-tradition sentiments. It features a liberal dose of foolishness, arrogance, cognitive dissonance, guilt, self-hatred and a lack of accountability.
Liberals often align with Islamists, even radical Islamists, to oppress Christians. They are more concerned about bakers and florists refusing to serve at same-sex “weddings” than the massacre of Christians going on around the world. Liberal policies (and their acts of omission and commission) can be blamed for the current turmoil in the Middle East including the rise of ISIS and other terror groups. It is for these and other reasons that liberalism is increasingly seen as big a threat to the civilized world as radical Islamism.
Christians may soon find they have few choices open to them live under ISIS, live under Sharia law or live under radical liberalism/Leftism/extreme secularism. Convert to Islam or die, ISIS says to Christians. Convert to Liberalism or your business will die, say the Liberals in Indiana State of the United States and the rest of the West.
Africanism or African wisdom, which exists in my part of Africa, is akin to Americanism. Both ideologies are rooted in a belief in a Supreme Being who is involved in the affairs of man. Both are undergirded by rational or common sense conservatism – unlike radical Islam which is driven by crazy conservatism. Both are pro-Christian, pro-Israel, pro-tradition, pro-capitalism, pro- respect for authority. Some parts of Africa are pro-Islam and their traditions are closer to Americanism than Liberalism. Christians and Moslems from Africa living in America would find that they have more in common with one another than with the anti-religion liberal natives here.
Sadly, many Africans living in the West become liberalised and radically so. Immigrants no longer become Americanised, they become liberalised. Moderate Moslems become radicalised. This trend has emerged because American culture is becoming more and more decadent, thanks to the liberals. So what does American culture have to offer these days? Depraved pop culture, radically liberalised institutions, drugs, guns, sagging, low expectations, rebellion, disdain of traditions and authority figures.
That is why when fellow Africans here say someone has become “Americanised” they don’t intend that to be taken as a compliment. My fellow Africans in America might sneer at the craziness in American culture they or their children observe or experience in America but they don’t link the craziness to the politicians or political party they support. Many of them don’t know what their children are being taught or indoctrinated into in their schools or colleges. And even if they know, the grind of daily existence and fear of retribution forces them to keep quiet.
Many Africans here are still avid church goers, but there is a big disconnect between their piety and their politics just as there is a disconnect between their African traditional upbringing and their politics. Many of them now subscribe to liberalism and endorse the new definitions of love, marriage, success, etc.
The churches have failed in teaching new immigrants how to become true Americans (traditional Americans). Not the counterfeit self-hating, guilt-ridden, America-bashing American, Liberals present to them.
I thank God that I am among the “chosen few” who have suffered persecution because we have not been seduced by liberalism. More on this later. Phew! I’m relieved that I survived another long session sitting up.
POST-SCRIPT
Congratulations to the new Nigerian president and to the people of Nigeria for pulling off another election. We prayed along for you all in my church. May the new president not become liberalised, Sharianised or radicalized. May he just be a moderate Moslem who loves Nigeria and wants the best for Nigeria.
