Police at the weekend rescued and arrested a youth who climbed a 33kv high tension pole in the Mayo-Belwa Council in Adamawa who was adamant that Bola Tinubu must resign as President before he would relent from his suicide mission.

Adamawa Police Public Relations Officer Suleiman Nguruje, a Superintended of Police, did not disclosed the name of the man but confirmed he was rescued on Saturday and is in custody in Yola.

“The command is going to parade the man [on Monday] for attempting a suicide. You know attempting to commit a suicide is a criminal offence under our Constitution, so we are going to charge him to court,” Nguruje disclosed.

He stressed that it is the constitutional duty of the police to protect lives and property and that when any individual wants to take his life, he will face the full wrath of the law.

The young man, on the market day of Mayo Belwa on Friday, climbed the 33kv pole along the Yola-Jalingo highway, insisting he would not come down until Tinubu vacated Aso Rock.

It was learnt the police engaged the services of locals in the area who convinced the man to come down on Saturday night.

He is said to be in protective custody in the Criminal Investigating Department (CID) of the state police command.
