Film actress and producer, Lilian Amah-Aluko, has said she is humbled by her alma mater’s gesture of bestowing her with an award.
She was recently honoured with the 2014 Distinguished Personality in the Arts award by the Federal Government College Warri Old Students Association (FEGOCOWOSA), Lagos branch.
“My alma mater, Lagos branch, humbled me by bestowing on me the 2014 Distinguished Personality in the Arts award at a glamorous dinner hosted by the class of 74/76 at the Lagoon Restaurant in Lagos,” the elated Lilian told TheNiche.
While expressing her gratitude to the organisers, she further said that it was a dazzling assembly and she was privileged to be counted among the other personalities awarded on the night.
“No award I had received in the past means as much to me, for the simple fact that it came from my constituency – the FGC Warri family. Even the spoilsport who stole my Blackberry phone at the end of the night cannot take away from my joy,” she stated.
FEGOCOWOSA is the alma mater of Albert Okumagba, Igho Sanomi, George Uriesi, Herbert Wigwe, Uyi Akpata, Onajite Okoloko, Rev. Fr. Greg Mukoro, Andrew Orhorho and Obinna Igwebike who were also honoured alongside Mrs. Amah-Aluko.
The award was presented to the recipients on Saturday, October 11, at the Lagoon Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos.
A letter to the actress from the branch chairman, Odion Omonfoman, read in part: “On behalf of members of the Federal Government College Warri Old Students Association (Lagos Branch), the executive committee of the Lagos branch is honoured to inform you of your nomination and selection as a recipient of the FEGOCOWOSA 2014 Distinguished Personality in the Arts Award.
“The FEGOCOWOSA Distinguished Personality in the Arts Award recognises and celebrates Fegocolians who have consistently made outstanding contributions to the growth of the arts. This award is being presented to you in recognition of your outstanding achievements in the Nigerian arts and film industry as well as your commitment to FEGOCOWOSA.”
He added that the award is also to encourage and inspire other Fegocolians, particularly younger members of the association, to excel and rise to the top of their respective careers. “Thus your personal acceptance and collection of the awards at the re-union will be greatly appreciated.”
