FCT records 388 police arraignments, including for cultism, kidnapping, misconduct, homicide, car theft, et cetera

Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) arraigned 388 suspects over various criminal offences in 2024 out of which 128 ended in convictions.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer Josephine Adeh, a Superintendent of Police, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja that 38 suspects were arraigned over kidnapping with 21 convictions,
Out of 16 “one-chance” robbery cases, 11 convictions were secured, she added, per the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Adeh listed other cases to include:
- 32 homicide, eight convictions
- 178 fraud, 58 convictions
- 19 cultism, 11 convictions
- 26 burglaries, eight convictions
- 21 car thefts, 11 convictions.
- 58 misconduct, zero convictions
Adeh disclosed that a total 1,426 cases reported to the command in 2024 led to the arrest of 1,077 suspects, broken down as follows:
- 104 kidnappings, 216 arrests
- 268 robberies, 132 arrests
- 263 “one chance”, 71 arrests
- 32 cybercrimes, 15 arrests
- 68 homicides, 78 arrests
- 73 burglaries, 20 arrests
- 385 fraud, 22 arrests
- 38 cultism, 59 arrests
- 127 car thefts, 64 arrests
She said 68 kidnap and 19 “one chance” robbery victims were rescued and 376 firearms, including 13 AK-47 magazines and 187 rounds of live ammunition, recovered from criminals.
Besides, she added, N36.85 million was recovered from kidnap suspects and N68.55 million from armed robbery suspects, among other achievements.
