Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello of Niger State; his predecessor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, and present state cabinet members were among Moslem faitfuls that observed the two rakat prayers to commemorate the 2017 Eid-el-Fitr at the Minna eid praying ground.
The two rakat prayers led by the Chief Imam of Minna Central Mosque, Sheikh Abu Fari, also offered prayers for peace in Nigeria, quick recovery of President Muhammadu Buhari and all leaders in all three tiers of government.
Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello after the two rakat prayers proceeded to the residence of the former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), with some of his cabinet members for the traditional sallah homage.
The immediate past governor of the state, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, who was also flanked by some of his cabinet members attended the two rakat prayers at the eid praying ground along mechanic village, eastern by-pass Minna.
Meanwhile, Moslems in Niger State yesterday joined their counterpart from across the world to celebrate the year’s Eid-el-Fitr which was generally peaceful and low-keyed as prayers in were offered in Mosques to commemorate the event.
Though generally low-keyed and peaceful, the celebration was devoid of the usual slaughtering of cows, rams and chicken by individuals but more of groups coming together to share cows or rams according to one’s financial capacity as the case maybe.
