Still basking in the euphoria of the successful hosting of this year’s Children’s Day Golf Tournament at the famous Ikeja Golf Club, Captain of the Ladies Section of the Club, Dr. Veronica Chaka-Awatai, has promised series of events in the club.

In a chat with TheNiche, the lady golfer said things will continue to change for good at the club, as they are set to move the club forward.
“We must thank our sponsors and partners for making this year’s Children’s Day golf tournament a huge success, and I assure that we will have series of events for the year.
“We want to keep our members busy with one event after the other; that I have assured them, and there is no going back.
“All we need is the support from all and sundry as well as encouragement from members of the club,” she said.
Chaka-Awatai heaped praises on the Kids Golf International (KGI) which partnered the club in the hosting of this year’s Children’s Day competition as well as their sponsors.
“The club is really a big one and we in the Ladies Section are working day in, day out to complement their efforts. With the support of the secretary of the section, Lola Mamudu; vice captain, Bunmi Atekojal; handicap secretary, Omoikerodah Zule; and treasurer, Helen Archer, the sky is our limit,” she said.
The club, being an evergreen belt, plays an enviable role in the environmental balance of Ikeja. It fulfils the ecological responsibility of the district and has remained a major contributor to the greening feature of Ikeja since its inception over 43 years ago.
The club also serves as an important tourist attraction for sports, entertainment and as a quintessential platform for corporate social interaction in the heart of Lagos State, being proud of the 10 hole golf course situated over 10 hectares.
