BREADKING: Supreme Court rejects CSU documents, says conditions for admissibility not met
By Jeph Ajobaju, Chief Copy Editor
Justice John Okoro, delivering the lead judgment of the Supreme Court, this morning rejected the deposition and other documents from Chicago State University (CSU) presented by Atiku Abubakar in his appeal against the election of President Bola Tinubu.
The top court agreed with the arguments of the respondents’ lawyers, including those of Tinubu, that the application did not meet the conditions stipulated by law for them to be entertained by the court.
One of the conditions is that the application to adduce the new evidence was not filed before or within the 180 days stipulated by law to determine election petition, Okoro said in a live broadcast of the judgment, which began at 9.30am.
He said the application to adduce new evidence is refused and dismissed.
This is a breaking news.
The proceedings continue and further details will be available later ….
