Barcelona eye Victor Moses — report

Victor Moses

You know how we know Victor Moses is having a good season? Barcelona have just been linked with him.

Of course it’s just Catalonian sports daily SPORT, so it’s hardly anything to take too seriously, but just the fact that Moses has been name-dropped by them and the football world didn’t break out in fits of laughter (unlike, say, when they linked Barca with Fernando Torres) shows how far the Chelsea wing-back has come. When players talk about the “honor” of being linked with one club or another, this is exactly what they’re talking about.

Barcelona are supposedly looking to revamp their defence next season, and they are apparently paying close attention to the 25-year-old. SPORT claims that Barça have seen Moses live in three occasions this season. As shown by the years of Daniel Alves as their first choice right back, they are really fond of defensive players with lots of offensive prowess. Moses’ playing style fits this mould.

But Moses is only one of the several options in consideration by the Catalan giants. Previous reports from SPORT themselves claim that some of Barça’s staff were in Italy last weekend to scout right backs and players in other positions who could contribute to the club next summer.

But let’s not let that detract from Moses’s recognition. Or the fact that he called it way back in 2012, when he first signed with Chelsea.

“…if I keep working hard, who knows, I’ll probably end up in Barcelona one day.”
