Atiku lying about alliance talks as part of his propaganda, Kwankwaso says

Rabiu Kwankwaso, New Nigeria Peoples’ Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, has branded Atiku Abubakar a liar and propagandist for announcing on BBC Hausa they are holding talks on alliance for the ballot on 25 February.

Kwankwaso’s reaction is sequel to claims by the PDP presidential candidate he is parleying with the former Kano Governor and Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi.

The talks are ongoing between him and Kwankwaso and Obi, Atiku disclosed in an interview on BBC Hausa.

But Kwankwaso countered on Channels Television by saying Atiku did not tell the truth and insisted he will not step down for him or for anyone else.

“You see, I was highly disappointed with him [Atiku] because I saw his interview even though it was not as bad as his supporters carried it. He didn’t say [I] or Peter Obi will step down for him,” Kwankwaso said, per reporting by The Guardian.

“What he said from the video that I saw was that he is talking to us and that’s not correct. Except for here in Lagos when I came to do the Arise [Television] debate or town hall meeting, since I left PDP have not seen Atiku eye to eye and I refused to talk to anybody.

“Because, you see, the only thing remaining for PDP and All Progressives Congress (APC) now is propaganda.”

Kwankwaso won’t merge with another party nor step down for anyone

Kwakwanso had on the campaign trail in Abeokuta in early December dismissed talk of merger with another party as the propaganda of failed politicians who have nothing to offer except deception and lies to grab power.

He also denied planning to step down for anyone.

“That’s absolute nonsense. You see we believe that we are not above the three or four parties in this country, but by 2023, next year, by the grace of God, the NNPP will win the election at national and all other levels,” he said.

“So, these are people who are failed politicians who have nothing to tell Nigerians other than to spread unnecessary rumour of a merger.

“Merger is already gone. We have our candidates. In all the parties, everybody is campaigning. So, disregard that nonsense.”

Kwankwaso lost his temper when he was asked if he would step down for any candidate. “Don’t ask me that rubbish,” he snapped.

Focus on education, empowering youth and women

He pledged his administration would strengthen the armed forces with one million recruits if elected President, and grant education at all levels to citizens as well as place priority on youth and women empowerment.
