Atiku denies involvement in ‘sacrilegious’ image linking him on social media

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has denied involvement in “the sacrilegious image of Jesus” being used by his opponents to discredit him and his campaign organisation.
He described the superimposition of his picture on the image as a mischievous and desperate effort by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to pit him against Christians, and spread discord between Muslims and Christians.
My opponents are behaving like a drowning person who would clutch to anything, Atiku explained in a statement he issued through his Media Aid Paul Ibe.
“APC are exhausted because they have squandered their goodwill and even their campaign of lies and propaganda are not working for them, and Nigerians have seen the light enough not to be fooled anymore by such desperate last-ditch tactic of a soldier about to kiss the dust,” the statement said, per The Guardian.
“I’m not your enemy; your enemy is your own disastrous record in terms of security, education, job creation, unemployment and unity. Your own performance record is your own greatest undoing.
“The 2023 election is a confidence vote in APC. Nigerians are wiser; using religion to divide the people can’t work. Suffering and hardship unite and galvanise people against failure and incompetence.”
Atiku urged APC members to pray for forgiveness for the sacrilege they have committed and asked Nigerians to forgive them for the sorry state of the country.

Distribution of oil from the North
Atiku promised on the campaign trail to actualise oil drilling in Bauchi and the neighbouring Gombe.
He made the pledge at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, where he also promised to inject funds to empower youths and women, create jobs, and curb restiveness and other forms of insurgency across Nigeria.
He said transporting petroleum resources from the North would not be a problem as he plans to revive the rail lines connecting the North East with other parts of the country.
Atiku expressed appreciation for the warm reception accorded him by the people of Bauchi and for the peaceful rally.
Governor Bala Mohammed enthused all PDP candidates would emerge victorious in the election.
PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu said Atiku has the experience to become President, and promised that if voted into power, the PDP would correct the ills of previous administrations.
