Nigerian actor and producer, Yul Edochie has pledged to help his older colleague, Kenneth Jideofor, better known as Kenneth Aguba in movies to raise money that will take him out of his current ordeal.

The news of the veteran thespian becoming homeless went viral on social media on Monday, July 4, after a photo showing the frail-looking actor in a shabby environment at a park in Enugu State surfaced.

Reacting to the development, Yul Edochie offered to help the actor to raise funds by demanding his bank details, which he intends to share online so that money could be paid into it by Nigerians.

The 40-year-old actor opined that once this was done, Aguba will have enough to take care of himself and never lack again.

He shared the actor’s picture on his Instagram page and wrote, “This one is a small matter. I don’t believe in too much talk or time-wasting. Just get him to do a short video calling out his account details and post it online.

“We will do crowdfunding for him. He’ll never lack anything again.”

Meanwhile, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has debunked claims that the veteran actor was abandoned by his association and colleagues.

In a statement issued on Instagram, the AGN president said the Enugu State Chapter of the Guild and some members had been supportive in both provisions of accommodation and medical intervention for Aguba in the past four years.

The statement read: “The attention of the AGN has been drawn to an online viral picture of veteran actor, Kenneth Aguba living on the street.

“The National President of AGN, Ejezie Emeka Rollas wishes to state clearly that the Guild has never abandoned Kenneth Aguba.

“Enugu State chapter of the Guild and individual members have been supportive in providing accommodation and medical interventions in the past 4 years to the veteran actor until his matter, which could be a spiritual issue, degenerated recently.

“The Guild does not make public issues regarding assistance to its members.

“The National President frowns at the shades thrown at the leadership of the Guild since the story went viral, describing it as the handwork of detractors which may not be unconnected with the present towering reputation of the Guild”
