Nigerian actress, Georgina Onuoha, has slammed her colleague Yul Edochie for claiming that marrying a second wife elevated him and his wives and brought them blessings.
The thespian made her feelings known via a lengthy post shared on her Instagram page on Friday, June 10, where she described Edochie’s comments as insensitive, untrue, and unfair.
Yup Edochie had shared a post on his Instagram page, claiming marrying two wives, brought him and his two wives blessings.
He wrote, “God works in mysterious ways. Marrying a 2nd wife has brought me blessings and also elevated my two lovely wives. Sometimes it takes the things we see as disappointments to happen for elevation to come,”

Reacting to his post, Onuoha faulted Yul’s argument that he was following tradition, according to her, there are processes required of a man before he can truly marry a second wife in the African custom.
“There is a reason they say process and intent matter. It’s one thing to impregnate another woman ( adultery ) while you are still married without discussing with your wife your desire to marry a second wife, which our traditions demand. Since you are quoting our traditions on polygamy, have you forgotten there are rules for such engagements?” she wrote.
She went on to accuse him of betraying his wife by keeping the news of his second wife from her until a blogger revealed it, adding that it’s wrong to force polygamy on people.
Onuoha added, “Marrying the same woman without the knowledge of your wife until she finds out on social media via a blog; is the worst kind of betrayal of trust. Eyin, there is nothing noble in what you did. You don’t force polygamy on people when they are not prepared for it. Give them an option. Not everyone has the grace to be a polygamist.”
Yup Edochie on Wednesday, April 27, took to social media to announce he has married a Nollywood actress, Judy Austin as his second wife, he also revealed they have a son together.
His disclosure was greeted with criticism by many including his first wife, May, who called him out, and his father, who disassociated himself from his adventure.
The actor later shared a photo of his first wife and described her as his ‘number one and undisputed.’ but insisted he is still married to two women.
