Among the many Nigerians seeking to replace President Muhammadu Buhari in the Villa come 2023 is Yul Edochie, son of veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie.
The 39-year-old film actor says he has been warming up for the role and that his father’s endorsement is a big boost towards achieving that dream.
Yul said via his Twitter handle: “My Father Chief Pete Edochie endorses my 2023 Presidential ambition. God Almighty, take absolute control.”
Pete Edochie, while endorsing his son, said: “…most of the people I served were White Reverend Fathers. So, my values were very strong as I was growing up. By the grace of God, I have my own children, and I raised them with a very strict puritanical discipline as I was raised.
“I am not one to be involved in politics. But not all your children are bound to follow you. One of my sons incidentally is an actor. He says he wants to be a politician.
“Most of the youngsters have been bugging my phone, asking me to endorse my son, that they want him as president. And I get amused. But they keep insisting that they want him to become the president of Nigeria, that they like him. That he is disciplined, he is sympathetic, and that he believes a lot in people. They have bothered me so much that I have decided that today, I am hereby presenting him to you.
“He has my blessing. He has my endorsement. Any day he decides to veer off from the discipline under which he was raised, I will withdraw him from the fight. I give you my word.”
Edochie, then prayed for his son, invoking the power of God to assist and direct him in the project.
