Massive mobilisation of youths North and South for the ballot in 2023 is yielding unprecedented results as the latest Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) data shows those aged 18-34 account for 58 per cent of new registrations.

Youths number 6,081,456 out of the total 10,487,972.new registrations for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), the INEC disclosed in its latest update.

Up North, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) led by Rabiu Kwankwaso says it has registered two million members in Borno alone, and down South, the Labour Party (LP) led by Peter Obi is galvanising youths through Twitter.

The INEC has acceded to popular demand and announced extension of voter registration by 60 days from the original deadline of 30 June. That provides a window for more youths to register to vote in 2023.
