Former Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Nations, Chief Emeka Anyaoku has called for youth empowerment through sports, describing it as solution to unemployment and stagnancy.
Chief Anyaoku disclosed this at the final match of the U-16 boys inter-state soccer Competition at the national Stadium on Sunday.
In appreciation of young talents on display, Chief Anyaoku praised donors for giving the youth the opportunity to put their talents to good use.
The soccer contest was between Strike Force of Enugu state versus Cargo Boys of Oyo State as Chief Anyaoku added that government has to do all it could to empower these young talents to excel.

The match ended in favour of Cargo Boys 3-1 against Strike Force.
Important dignitaries attended the Competition which saw players win prizes for best performance and most valuable players of the match.
Lagos state representative in an interview said the state assisted in funding Competition owing to it’s interest in youth development.
Most of the coaches in attendance hail the effort of Chief Anyaoku in sustaining the competition for sixteen years and pray for more Competitions for talented youths to curb unemployment and street urchins.
Over sixteen teams participated in the competition.
