Yobe int’l cargo airport for test landing Friday

.Airforce activates operations from Damaturu

The test landing of the multi-million naira Yobe International Cargo Airport is to be carried out on Friday May 29, 2020.

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, disclosed this in Damaturu Tuesday when he hosted the Chief of Air Staff, Sadiq Abubakar, who visited the governor for a sallah homage.

Buni assured that he would keep to all the promises he made to the Air force by providing their staff quarters, office accommodation and all other logistics for them to fully settle down in Damaturu.

“The Damaturu International Cargo Airport will be test-landed on May 29, and we are going to provide Nigeria Air Force (NAF) quarters there as we promised,” Gov. Buni announced.

The governor noted that the presence of Airforce in the state would permanently flush out all forms of insurgency and criminality in the state, while pledging his continued support for the Armed Forces for peace in the state.

“This is quite assuring and a clear sign that the madness called insurgency is coming to an end very soon,” Buni said.

Responding, the Chief of Air Staff, Sadiq Abubakar, expressed his excitement that air surveillance and operations against Boko Haram insurgents would immediately commence from Damaturu.

His words: “I am very excited that Governor Buni has been supportive of the Air Force and provided land area where we are putting certain facilities that would add a lot of value to what we are doing.

“I am also very confident with what we have, it’s going to be much easier for the Air Force to respond to any threats within Yobe rather than going to Maiduguri and coming back. We can now operate from Damaturu which is very exciting for us indeed and to our comrade that are fighting on the land as well.”
