Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam, and the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, have pledged to work together to advance Yobe State’s quest to use the endowments of science and technology in developing and imparting skills, especially to youths across the state.
This was part of the outcome of discussions held by the two leaders, when the minister visited the governor at Government House, Damaturu at the weekend.
Onu praised Governor Gaidam’s leadership, saying the progress Yobe has made in infrastructure development is pointer to the effort of the governor to develop the state and leave behind lasting legacies.
The minister also lauded the governor’s ‘stabilizing role’ during the days when the All Progressives Congress (APC) was being formed.
Onu said that his Ministry was willing to participate and play its part in the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation in the state as Boko Haram insurgence ends.
Governor Gaidam thanked the minister for his approval to establish a technolgy incubation centre. He said that the decision was in lockstep with his administration’s quest to provide skills training and make youth self-reliant.
The governor also called for the establishment of a Science Park and solicited the support of the minister.
