Two goals in the first half from China-based Odion Ighallo and Mikel Obi; and another two in the second half by Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho, were what Nigeria needed to keep hope alive for the World Cup in Russia, as the Super Eagles trashed the Lions of Cameroun 4-0 in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Friday, September 1, 2017.
Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom had motivated the Nigerian team with a promise of $10, 000 per goal before the match. With the 4-0 result, Nigeria team is $40,000 richer.
The second leg comes up in Yaounde, Cameroun on Monday.
Nigeria now leads the group with nine points.
