The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday, June 16, 2018, lost their first game at the ongoing World Cup in Russia 0-2 to Croatia in the group D.
With a goal scored in the 24th minute through a corner-kick, the Croatians stamped their authority in the match, forcing Nigerians to their own half. The Croatians doubled their lead via a penalty in the early second half.
Earlier, Argentina and Iceland, both in the same group D, drew 1-1.
The defeat brought Nigeria to the bottom of the group with no goal and no point; while Croatia lead with three points and two goals.
Argentina came second with one point; followed by Iceland with a point and a goal.
