Argentina that painfully sent the Super Eagles of Nigeria packing at the ongoing World Cup could not survive the fire power of the youthful French national team – The Blues – in the round of 16 of the mundial.

The South American country’s 4-3 loss on Saturday, June 30, 2019, could cause Lionel Messi’s retirement from the national team he captained.

France had taken the lead in the first half when their midfielder, Kylian Mbape, was hacked down in the 18-yard box, resulting in a penalty, which Antoine Griezmann converted.

In the same first half, Argentina equalized when Di Maria scored few minutes to the end of the first half.

The second half got quite challenging as Argentina took the lead but France cameback minutes later and then Kylian Mbappe added two more goals to make the scoreline 4 – 2.

Argentina tried her best during the injury time when Sergio Aguero scored another goal but unfortunately for the South Americans, their journey of the FIFA World cup has ended.
