A 49-year old woman, Hephzibah Aondongu, will spend the next two years in jail for issuing a dud cheque to her landlord.
The High Court in Makurdi, on October 8, convicted the woman for the crime of issuing the dud cheque of N296,020 to her landlord.
Aside issuing the dud cheque, Aondongu was charged for also jumping bail, resisting lawful arrest and assaulting the investigating police officer, ASP Benjamin Olade.
The judge, Justice Theresa Igoche, said the the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubts, showing that the convict presented the cheque, knowing full well that she had no sufficient funds in her bank account.
Aondongu was jailed without an option of fine.
The convict was also ordered to pay N296,020 being the value of the dud cheque to her landlord, Mr John Ekere.
