Transport Minister Hon. Mu’azu Jaji Sambo has called on Agencies under his ministry to latch on to the theme of the World Maritime Day (WMD) celebration to chart a course for Greener and technology-driven Maritime industry.
Speaking in Lagos today where the event took place, Sambo said ” A Greener and sustainable Maritime industry is achievable if we work together in partnership and with a determination to achieve synergy in the formulation and implementation of our road map for the Maritime sector in Nigeria and globally”
In his keynote address, the Minister touched on very important points of action which in his opinion will jump-start development in the Maritime sector based on the WMD theme.

According to him, the Government of President Buhari has lived up to its responsibility in creating enabling environment and policies that are of global best practices but added that these policies would only make meanings where the private sector operators, the beneficiaries of these policies support their full implementation and deploy adequate resources and emerging technologies in partnership with Government.
On CVFF, Minister said, ” Am passionate about CVFF disbursement, there is no need for the fund lying at the CBN, it should be used to support our people,
adding that “DG NIMASA should Support me, as the PS is already onboard in this matter. I will engage NIMASA, I give them two weeks to give me the roadmap for the disbursement of the CVFF. I will also put the controversy surrounding the Floating Dock to rest. I will discuss it with Nimasa DG on Friday”.
Sambo reiterated that never again should the Government or its agencies spend money in awarding contracts to clear seaweeds, adding that the billions spent on it already would be for other important projects.
