Withdraw your comment on anti-grazing law, Senate tells Defense minister

Dan-Ali, Defense minister

The Senate has mandated the Minister of Defense, Col. Mansur Dan-Ali (rtd), to immediately withdraw his statement on Tuesday in Abuja, in which he advised the Security Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, on the need to suspend Anti-open Grazing Law in Benue, Taraba and Ekiti states.

The resolution of the Senate followed a motion moved by Senator Barnabas Gemade (APC, Benue), drawing the attention of the Chamber to the continued killings in Benue and Taraba, and the comments of the Minister, which he described as unfortunate.

The Senate also received for consideration, the report of the Amnesty International on the human rights abuses in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in the Boko Haram ravaged Northeastern part of the country,

The report was laid by Senator Shehu Sani (APC, Kaduna Central), who raised the alarm that the content of the report was damning, noting the Amnesty international backed up its findings with facts and figures.
