And in her victory speech, Evelyn Oyome said she was delighted to have won the championship, describing it as sweet.

She said: “With all modesty and honesty, I am delighted to have won this championship and I want to say that victory is sweet, though it comes with hard work and determination.

“I thank the organisers and sponsors of the championship for making it a huge success. I praise all the participants, for a good fight and for a good championship.

Oyome powered home 157 score in the Gross category to win the championship, while Ann Wilfred scored 161 points to place second ahead of Faith Okoh-Bayo who scored 172 points.

In her closing remark, the Lady Captain, Dr. Veronica Chaka-Awatai, expressed appreciation to their sponsors and all participants for making the championship a successful one.

She said: “We are happy to be able to host the championship, even as the year 2014 was besieged with the Ebola scare and insistent rainfall.

“We graciously thank our Captain, Ajibola Awoseyi; our Vice Captain, Air Commodore Ajomale (rtd); and of course our able and dynamic club committee for their supports and encouragements.

“It was a very interesting week of golfing. The last two days of the championship was the most exciting, with the ladies taking over the course, the club and even Ikeja Metropolis.”

She, however, urged the sponsors to continue to associate with them and keep up the sponsorship, to keep the relationship ongoing.
