Ahead of the presidential primaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has been tipped as the favourite for the party’s ticket ahead of Bola Tinubu in a now-deleted poll conducted by a Nigeria-based broadcast outlet, Television Continental (TVC).

TVC is believed to be owned by one of the frontline presidential aspirants of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Rotimi Amaechi, the immediate past Minister of Transportation; Osinbajo; incumbent Senate President Ahmed Lawan, and Tinubu were listed, as the candidates the respondents were to choose from.

It was gathered that the television station, on its official Twitter handle on Wednesday, conducted an APC primary-themed poll, asking: “Now that Atiku (Abubakar) has emerged as PDP (Peoples Democratic Party_ presidential candidate, who should APC field as its flag-bearer?”

The tweet was deleted after 1,721 individuals voted, with Osinbajo leading with 43 per cent. Tinubu trailed him, having garnered 40 per cent of the votes. Lawan had nine per cent, and Amaechi had eight per cent.

Both Osinbajo and Tinubu have continued to make a case why each should be Nigeria’s next president. Once allies, their presidential ambition has drawn a wedge between the two politicians, with Tinubu disowning Osinbajo’s presidential ambition.

On the other hand, the vice president insisted he had enough of being a sidekick to political heavyweights like Tinubu and President Muhammadu Buhari as he fights to be his own man.
