The immediate past President and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Plc, Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, has declared interest to partner with the private sector for a speedy development of Anambra State if elected governor in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
Ozigbo, who is aspiring to fly the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) flag, spoke to the media on Thursday, June 11, 2020.
While noting the achievements of past administrations in the state, he gave kudos to Peter Obi’s regime, assuring that he would leverage on them to actualize his dream Anambra.
Ozigbo pointed out that Anambra like other states in the South East has the manpower needed to make a different; but lacked the unifying factor.
He said that underdevelopment would continue in the South East if their leaders were not united, stressing that he had the charisma to unite them.
The governorship aspirant also said that he had the capability to harness the potential in the private sector to build the second Niger Bridge.
The first class graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), who was also a banker, commended the current leadership of the PDP in Anambra State for uniting the party in the state.
He said that he has consulted all the PDP chieftains in the state, whom he said, endorsed his candidature.
On the zoning of political offices in the state, Ozigbo said though he was not against it, he believes in the emergence of the best candidate irrespective of the zone.
According to him, “Zonning favours me. I am from Anambra South. The major issue is that I am qualified to be the next governor of Anambra State. While working in Transcorp I was opportuned to meet many Anambra prominent people who shared my vision. They are all supporting me. And I will not disappoint them.”
He also said that he would mobilize the masses to ensure that the election was not rigged if given the mandate to represent the PDP, stressing that APGA has no chance.
On youth empowerment, Ozigbo said that he has impacted on the youths through his various schemes.
He disclosed that he has spent over N20 million on face masks, gloves and other items, which he donated to citizens in Anambra State since the inceptin of Coronavirus.
He assured on how to boost the state economy, stressing that his success story in the private sector would be replicated in the Anambra State government House.
