Atletico Madrid forward, Joao Felix, has justified his decision to snub Arsenal and Manchester United and pick their Premier League rival, Chelsea, saying the Blues are one of the great teams in the world.

Chelsea had earlier on Wednesday, January 11, confirmed the signing of the 23-year-old Joao Felix from La Liga outfit, Atletico Madrid, on loan for the remainder of the season.

Prior to the Blue’s indication of interest in the Portuguese international, Chelsea’s North London rivals, Arsenal and Manchester United had initially contacted his parent club to sign him on loan.

However, Felix moved to Chelsea and signed a six-month loan deal to remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2022/2023 season.

They paid around £9.7 million for the temporary transfer and will cover the entirety of Felix’s £270,000-a-week wages during his stay.

Reacting after completing his move to Chelsea, the Portugal striker, who was rumoured to be unsettled at Atletico Madrid have fallen out with his coach, Diego Simeone, told Chelsea’s official website:

“Chelsea is one of the great teams in the world, and I hope to help the team reach its objectives, so I am very, very happy to be here and very excited to play at Stamford Bridge.”
