Sports Minister, Sen. John Enoh has revealed that the AthIetics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and 31 other Sports Federations in Nigeria will not get their annual budget allocation to finance their sporting activities this year. Reasons being that their allocation has been spent on the 2023 All African Games held in Ghana.

Enoh made this revelation during a media parley with Sports Writers in Abuja at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.

“2024 Sports Federations budget which is captured under sporting activities in the Ministry’s budget have been spent on All African Games,” the minister said.

The Minister added that the implication is that, “We have to run the rest of 2024 without funding for the federations. This, of course, is different from the budget for Olympics qualification which covers expenses on their qualification games for the 2024 Olympics.”

Enoh added, “There is no sports federation that did not get funds for Olympics Games qualifier because you have to compete before qualification,” BSNsports quoted the Sports Minister.
