WEEF 2024: Women empowered with skills on wealth creation, emotional intelligence, others
The WiCare Entrepreneurship Empowerment Forum (WEEF) recently held its 2024 conference in Lagos, celebrating women’s resilience and entrepreneurial capacity.
The theme, “The Wealthy Woman,” dealt with a series of subjects including financial independence, wealth creation, emotional healing, actionable strategies for personal and professional growth, career development, spirituality, and entrepreneurship.
Convened by Diane Kalu, founder of the WiCare Lekota Foundation, the event was held for two days. The first day was at the iconic MUSON Centre and the second day, at the Dover Hotel.
On day one, women from a diverse audience eager to learn attended, with the key sessions including Woman and Her Money, which is about the strategies for achieving financial independence, wealth creation, and smart investments.
There was also a session on Career Growth, which provided tips for navigating workplace challenges and reaching professional goals.
The session on Emotional Intelligence provided insights into managing emotions and building strong, supportive relationships.
The role of Spiritual Anchoring was also highlighted, showing the role of faith in achieving balance and success.
On day two, the focus was on widows, a demographic often overlooked but deeply impacted by societal challenges and gender-based violence.
The session provided a safe space for widows to explore their unique struggles, particularly around grief, financial independence, and emotional healing. The session to led by mental health professionals to help widows process grief and find hope.
Widows were also taken through Financial Empowerment, to rebuild financial stability, including inheritance rights and small business opportunities.
Also, building a support system and encouraging widows to lean on community support and connect with others in similar situations were also discussed.
Widows left the event feeling seen, supported, and equipped to navigate their journeys with renewed strength. One widow shared: “This was the first time I felt truly understood and empowered to take charge of my life again.”
Diane Kalu, in her opening address, stated: “The Wealthy Woman is not just about financial success. It’s about wealth in every sense—emotional, spiritual, and intellectual. This forum is designed to equip women with the tools they need to thrive in every aspect of their lives.”
She reaffirmed the mission of WiCare Lekota Foundation, saying: “This forum is a call to action—to empower women, support widows, and challenge the norms that hold us back. Together, we can create a society where every woman has the opportunity to thrive.”
