The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has said that its members passed through the most labour unfriendly and devastating administration during the administration of the immediate past caretaker committee chairman of the council, Mr Oforji Oboku.

The chairman of the local government workers union , Comrade Koku Oyoro, disclosed this in his office in Yenagoa.

He said that in the anals of local government administration in Bayelsa State no administration has been so insensitive and maltreated council workers like “the horrible 16 months government of Oforji Oboku, the immediate past Caretaker Committee Chairman.”

He posited that workers in then council were owed three months salary as at the time Oboku took over from  Chubby Ben- Walson.

“We were owed nine and half months salary. Chubby Ben-Walson owed three while Oforji Oboku owed six and half months,” he said.

He therefore called on Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, to allow Heads of Personnel Administration to oversee the affairs of the council for at least eight months, expressing hope that such window will allow the Heads of Personnel Administration to clear all the backlogs of salaries owed council workers across the eight local government areas.

He also called on the council workers to support and cooperate with Dr. Ovienadu Torutein, the Head of Yenagoa Local Government Administration to correct what he described as the diversionary strides made by the out-gone administration that crippled the local government system.
