WBS&PF: Raising an army of Spirit-filled women

The need to possess ones possession was the focus of the 15th convention of the Women Bible Study and prayer fellowship (WBS&PF) of the Celestial Church of Christ held at the Celestial City, Imeko, Ogun State. Bisi Eretan reports on the convention.

It was three days of praise, word of exhortations and prayers as well as dance and drama which the host city will not forget in a hurry.

In her welcome address, Bamidele Osindero, convention chairperson and deputy general coordinator for Lagos, cited Phil. 4:6 to charge the participants not to be anxious and lazy when it comes to prayer which is a key to possessing their possession.

“In laying our request before God in prayer, God’s peace will stand as a guard at the doors of our heart and mind thereby preventing the cares and heart aches of life from upsetting our lives,” she said.

The coordinator general worldwide, Yetunde Odeyemi’s word of exhortation was taken from Deut 1:21 and Obadiah 1: 17 which she used to explain that deliverance, redemption, repentance, life, blessing and glory are some of the things to be possessed if they can meet the conditions.

“The conditions for possessing your possession include holiness, obedience, thanksgiving, being steadfast, showing mercy, giving of your time, money and life to Him according to the word of God,” she said even as she told them that they have nothing if there is no vital relationship with Christ.

The various lectures revolved round the theme. Augusta Eyo from USA spoke on identifying and understanding possession (Eph 1:3); Oloruntoyin Bakare lectured on identifying and dealing with oppositions to possessions (1 Cor. 16: 9).

Possession in Redemption from Rev. 5: 12 was the focus for Abayomi Ilori of CCC Ifako parish; Joseph Ogunremi cited 1 Tim. 4: 8 when he talked about profitability of godliness in all things while the importance of faith in possessing was discussed by Victoria Oseni from Canada.

The last lecture, on the third day was delivered by Kikelomo Osibeluwo from Is. 59: 1 on the hindrances to possessing after a group discussion that centred on forgiveness. It was agreed that forgiveness is rarely easy and letting go does not excuse the offence but it frees one to be part of godly solutions to prevent a widening circle of consequences.

The prayer warriors of the fellowship led intercessory prayers for individuals, families and the country in between the activities while the WBS&PF choir also ministered in songs of praise.

As important as their spiritual well being is, the participants were also advised to be mindful of their lifestyle when Toyin Olugboyo gave a health talk on weight management. She emphasised the importance of eating healthy, exercising and sleeping well.

It was not all lectures, talks and prayers as delegates from Delta State did a march past before joining Edo, Lagos and Kaduna states to present drama and dance in their dialects to drive home the message of the convention.

Over 40 members including six male ministers of God were given awards for their contribution to the fellowship’s vision of evangelising to win souls for God, raising an army of spirit filled women, assisting the less privileged and raising God fearing children.

A revival led by Tunji Solaja of CCC Isokan Ifemimo Sowapo, Bariga was held to round off the convention. He gave insights into steps to take to possess the good things as provided by God even as he talked about deliverance and salvation.

After a befitting thanksgiving, the participants left better than they came as they gave testimonies of the goodness of God in their life. They were also grateful that they are better equipped to face daily challenges.

“I now know that bitterness, unforgiving heart, pride and disobedience are some of the things i have to avoid to be able to possess my possession with heaven as the most important of the possessions,” revealed Bimbo Coker, a participant from Lagos.
