WAFCON 2022: Nigeria set to clash against Morocco

Monday’s meeting between the Super Falcons and Atlas Lionesses will be the first of its kind

Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Morocco Atlas Lionesses will take to the field to contest a spot in the final of the ongoing 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON)

The Semi Final match will be played at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium on 18th of July,2022 by 9pm.


The Super Falcons’ go into this fixture fuelled by their qualification to the 2023 Fifa Women’s World Cup having silenced Cameroon 1-0 last time out.
Another victory for the West Africans will propel them to the final as they continue their bid for a tenth African diadem.


Hosts Morocco have proven bookmakers wrong for reaching this stage by winning all their four matches.


Although WAFCON 2022 is their third appearance for Atlas Lionesses, they would be punching high to reach their first final, where the winner between Zambia and South Africa awaits.

Morocco have won all four games while the Super Falcons bounced back from defeat to the Banyana Banyana of South Africa to win three straight.

Monday’s meeting between the Super Falcons and Atlas Lionesses will be the first of its kind.
Meanwhile the Mortician coach has been boasting that the Super Falcons Cannot Stop how team from winning the title.


Atlas Lioness head coach Pedros has made clear their intention in the semi-final game against Nigeria.


The Lionesses secured their place in the semi-final of the competition after they defeated Botswana 2-1 in the quarter-final.

Pedros said the team are focused on winning the title and Super Falcons cannot stand on their way to lift elusive trophy.

“We are focusing on winning, we are in the semifinal and we will see what will happen in the game against Nigeria.


We have positive ideas and we will focus until we reach the final.


“We don’t have any injuries and all our players are ready. Tomorrow’s game will be different and it’s up to us to stand up against our opponent,” he said.
Morocco alongside Banyana Banyana of South Africa are the only team that have won all their games in the tournament
