Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate has appealed to people of the Northeast sub-region, to utilise the opportunity of producing the next president of Nigeria by voting for him.

Abubakar, who made the appeal in Damaturu on Wednesday at his presidential campaign, said they should elect him, being one of their own, saying the 2019 presidential election provided the sub-region with a rare opportunity.

“Since the Tafawa Balewa administration of the First Republic, the Northeast has not had another opportunity to produce Nigeria’s president,” he said.

RThe presidential candidate assured women and youths that they would be given an opportunity to serve in his administration if he was elected.

Abubakar cautioned security operatives and personnel of the Independent National Electoral Commission against taking sides, urging them to maintain neutrality in the discharge of their responsibilities.

The presidential candidate said if elected, he would guaranty security and provide infrastructure across the state.

Uche Secondus, PDP National Chairman, said the party if elected, would guarantee the security of lives and property, as well as create job opportunities.

Meanwhile, the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus has raised alarm over alleged plot of  the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to rig election in  Borno and Yobe states through the camps of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the region.

Secondus raised the alarm on Wednesday as the PDP presidential campaign train arrived the two embattled North East states of Borno and Yobe..

The National Chairman told a mammoth crowd of party supporters in Damaturu and Maiduguri that the party was privy to a credible intelligence showing that the APC was plotting to use the IDP camps for the manipulation.

He accused President Buhari and his party of failing in their promise to restore peace in the region, the reason he was voted in 2015.

He said the President failed the people because he was  not in charge as he sourced out the presidency to the cabals who now decide to help themselves.

The National Chairman told the jubilant crowd that the PDP candidate who hails from the region was better equipped to tackle the security challenges of the region as well as confront the issue of poverty, jobs and hunger.

“Atiku has been tested and tried both in public and private sector, he is energetic and will work for 24 hours to find solutions to your problems and he will be the symbol of unity for the country.

Secondus reiterated his earlier position that the party will not accept result of a rigged election, noting that the APC had already confirmed their rigging intention on Tuesday at their Ekiti State rally.

Prince Secondus also warned the APC to stop politicizing the security operations by trying to influence the posting of Police Commissioners and other security personnel.

Atiku who was mobbed by the crowd in the two states assured them that if given the mandate, his Presidency will tackle the security challenges in the region, create jobs and tackle poverty.

The PDP Presidential campaign train would move north west on Thursday to Katsina the home state of President Buhari.
