Violence: Police arrest Abdulmumin Jibrin, Kwankwaso escapes unhurt

Thursday violent clashes in Kano between the supporters of House of Representatives lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin and those of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have left two people dead, according to a statement from the Nigeria Police Force.

According to a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report, the clashes occur when Kwankwaso and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Abba Kabir-Yusuf, as well as their supporters, were travelling to Bebeji, the constituency of Abdulmumin Jibrin for a final rally.

Abdulmumin Jibrin is an All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking re-election.

The Guardian Newspaper reported the arrest of Abdulmumin Jibrin alongside 17 suspected political thugs.

The Newspaper said Abdulmumuni allegedly sponsored suspected thugs to ambush the convoy of Senator Kwankwaso.

Two Kwankwasiyya members confirmed killed and scores wounded as well as 40 vehicles burnt in the ambush.
