Okupe says Tinubu is largely underrated, in terms of capacity, ability and commitment, and knowledge to fix Nigeria

Ex-director general of the Peter Obi campaign organisation in the 2023 election, Doyin Okupe, has said President Bola Tinubu is the best person on the job among those who contested against him.
Okupe made the comment on Friday as guest of Politics Today on Channels Television.
The host of the programme, Seun Okinbaloye asked Okupe if Obi would have done better than Tinubu as president. Okupe responded: “Of all the people who ran for president in 2023, by the benefit of hindsight, Bola Tinubu is the best.”
Okinbaloye asked again: “Even the Peter Obi you worked for?”
Okupe doubled down: “I am telling you that Bola Tinubu is the best. With the benefit of hindsight, I’ve seen Peter Obi, I’ve been with Atiku Abubakar. Many people may not be aware, I also knew Bola Tinubu many years ago.
“In terms of capacity, ability and commitment, and knowledge, people keep underestimating what he did in Lagos. It was a wonderful job. I sat with him for three hours and he took me through what they were doing and what he would do.”
Okupe’s comment came hours after a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George said one year was too short to assess President Bola Tinubu.
According to George, the rot Tinubu inherited from ex-President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration was too enormous to be dispensed with in a year, hence, the need for more time before judgment is passed on the administration.
