The Labour Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Thursday held a rally at the Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.
The rally at the 12,000-capacity stadium saw Obi’s supporters gather in their numbers with outfits bearing his image and also the party’s flag. Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, were joined by party leaders.
It also felt like homecoming for the new Director-General of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign, Akin Osuntokun, who hails from Ekiti.
Osuntokun, who was a political adviser to ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo between 1999 and 2007, replaced Doyin Okupe after the latter was convicted of money laundering.
It was the first rally for the Labour Party in the New Year two days after it held a town hall meeting themed, ‘Women for a new Nigeria’, in the FCT, Abuja.
