Nigerians seeking to escape Sudan are currently being trapped in a desert, unsure of their fate.
In a viral video, the Nigerians, mainly students, said they were abandoned in the desert by the transporters the federal government hired to ferry them to safety.
The transporters’ grouse was that they have not been paid, hence, wouldn’t continue the journey, the Nigerians in the video.
The Nigerians lamented that they were lacking basic supplies including water, and had no compass to determine in what part of the world’s desert they were stranded.
Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, confirmed that Nigerians were indeed abandoned in a desert by their transporters, but assured that the matter has been resolved.

She said via her Twitter handle, @abikedabiri: “I have just spoken to the @nemanigeria. They have started moving and the issues between NEMA and the transport company have been resolved.”
Sudan has been enmeshed in a bloody war between fighters loyal to Abdel Fattah al-Burhan who heads the Army, and the leader of the Rapid Support Force (RSF) Mohammed Dagalo, an ex-commander of the notorious militia, Janjawid.
The power struggle that erupted barely a week ago has led to the death of about 500 people and injured over 3500 and displaced tens of thousands of others, who have poured into Chad.
