Afrobeat star, Seun Kuti, was taken to his home in handcuff for another search. This has prompted reactions on whether the police were investigating another thing other than the slap of its personnel.
During the first search, Nairaland founder, Seun Osewa, accused the police of harassing Kuti’s family by ransacking their home and seizing his wife’s phone.
“The harassment of Seun Kuti’s family by ransacking their home & seizing his wife’s phone is wrong. You’re making people who were sympathetic to the police because of Seun Kuti’s behaviour to remember why they hated the police before. This is bad PR for the police,” Osewa tweeted.
But the Lagos Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin claimed that in the course of investigation, the police stumbled on certain suspicious things that needed to be proven/disproved beyond reasonable doubt, hence the first search.
A video is now making the round on social media, showing Seun Kuti in handcuff with plainclothes police operatives at his home.
A dispute arose when one of Seun Kuti’s people noticed that the police were filming the Afrobeat star in handcuffs. The angry man said he too was going to make his video.
Recall that a Sabo-Yaba Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos yesterday, extended Seun Kuti’s remand for another four days.

Simon Lough, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who led a police legal team to the court, moved the application, which was granted.
According to him, the extension is to allow further investigation into the case.
