Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 25 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, is currently leading chieftains of the party and supporters in a protest march.

INEC had on March 1 announced Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the presidential election with 8,794,726 votes, followed by Atiku (6,984,520), and Labour Party (LP) Peter Obi (6,101,533).

But Atiku and Obi have rejected the result, alleging the poll was marred by widespread rigging, citing INEC’s failure to transmit the result of the presidential poll until after 48 hours.

Among the PDP protesters are; National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu,  Governors, and federal lawmakers including Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Darius Ishaku (Taraba) and Ademola Adeleke (Osun).

They took off from the PDP headquarters, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja to the office of INEC.

Presidential candidate of the Africa Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, said it was a good thing for Atiku to personally lead the protest, saying everyone must be involved.

He said: “#Electionfraud Good to see @atiku, @OfficialPDPNig fight for electoral justice, everyone must engage in civil disobedience to extinguish the monumental injustice perpetrated by @inecnigeria, except that for us revolutionaries we don’t get the privilege to have DSS and police bodyguards to protect us during protests like this, they usually unleash the police, soldiers and the DSS on us with absolute cruelty!”
