The anticipated movement of Napoli star, Victor Osimhen to the English Premier League (EPL) has suffered a set back after London clubs, Chelsea and Arsenal pulled out of the race to sign him.

This was revealed by Italian transfer market expert, Ciro Troise, via  CalcioNapoli24.

PSG and Chelsea have long targeted the talentd Serie A striker but the Blues could not progress further over the player’s massive release clause.

The development gave city rivals,  Arsenal the opportunity to enter the race to sign the Nigerian striker.

Chelsea’s deal for Victor Osimhen would have seen Romelu Lukaku join Napoli on a permanent deal.

However, Ciro Troise now reports that Chelsea have backed out after identifying Atletico Madrid’s forward, Samu Omorodion as his replacement.

Arsenal on the other side, after trying to hijack the deal, later followed their London counterparts and pulled out of the race.

Troise while reporting what transpired  wrote, “Osimhen? Nothing has changed. He reappears every now and then, but the situation is always the same: PSG doesn’t go beyond €70m and hasn’t sold Kolo Muani yet. While Chelsea and Arsenal have withdrawn.”

Meanwhile, reports in Italy indicate that Napoli’s new manager, Antonio Conte, prefers Romelu Lukaku in his attack for the coming season.
